New, upgraded or diverted services can affect design, programme, highways, groundworks and building handover. Amida coordinates power, water, gas and data connections so applications, site preparation, provider activities and internal interfaces are managed as one workstream.

We act as the project coordinator rather than the statutory network operator. Supply and network activities are arranged with the relevant utility provider and, where necessary, appropriately accredited specialist contractors.

Our commercial utility coordination service manages applications, enabling works, provider interfaces and programme dependencies for new, upgraded or diverted services.

Connections, upgrades and diversions

  • New electricity, potable water, gas and telecommunications/data supplies for developments, fit-outs, plant upgrades and changes of use.
  • Capacity enquiries, increased loads, meter changes, temporary builders' supplies, disconnections and diversion of services affected by construction.
  • Coordination of substations, intake rooms, meter locations, boundary positions and routes between the provider's network and the building installation.

Enabling works and programme control

  • Desktop reviews, utility records, service detection, trial holes and route planning to reduce clashes and unexpected excavation risks.
  • Trenches, ducts, draw pits, chambers, marker systems, bases, penetrations and reinstatement required before or after provider attendance.
  • Applications, quotations, permissions, lead times, shutdowns, appointments, dependencies, testing and final connection milestones tracked against the project programme.

Clear interfaces from street to building

Utility work is aligned with civils, structural, electrical, mechanical, fire-stopping and finishing packages. This reduces the risk of incomplete routes, inaccessible meters or late provider visits delaying energisation, commissioning or occupation.

Utility lead times can be substantial and may change as provider information develops, so connection milestones should be treated as active programme risks. Regular tracking, complete submissions and early confirmation of client decisions improve certainty, although final dates remain subject to the relevant provider and any external permissions.
